Diversion Program

Description: The Diversion Program enables youth who are first-time offenders to avoid a Court Disposition, or a court record, by successfully completing a selected program. The Diversion Program encourages youth to make better choices, maintain good grades and learn how the judicial system works. All participants in the Diversion Program must meet certain requirements in order to be eligible for dismissal from the justice system. They must maintain passing grades in all classes, abide by a curfew, attend a series of classes pertaining to their offense, and complete community service. Failure to follow through with the above expectations may mean expulsion from the Diversion Program. At that point, the participant will be charged and will appear in court for the original offense.
