Due to the passage of the Federal Help
America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) there are some necessary statutory and rules
changes.
Voters are now required to present an
acceptable ID in order to register.
The following are acceptable ID's by
themselves:
- U.S. Passport
- Driver's License or ID Card issued by
Wyoming or Outlying Possession of the U.S.
- ID Card issued by Federal, State Or
Local Government or Agency
- School ID card with a Photograph
- Military Dependent's ID Card
The following are acceptable ID's
accompanied by other forms:
- Certification of U.S. Citizenship
- Certificate of Naturalization
- U.S. Military Card or Draft Record
- Voter's Registration Card from other
State or County
- U.S. Social Security Card
- Certification of Birth Abroad issued by
The Department of State
- Original or Certified Copy of a Birth
Certificate Bearing an Official Seal
- Any other form of Identification issued
by an Official Agency of the United States of a State
Provisional Ballot - Until the passage of
amended rules, and so the ballot meets the statutory requirement that a
provisional ballot not be electronically tabulated, a provisional ballot may be:
- A paper photocopy of the regular ballot
with the words "Provisional Ballot" printed clearly at the top.
- A regular ballot with a line drawn
through the bar coding so counters can not electronically tabulate it.
Provisional Ballot Envelopes - Until the
passage of amended rules, or the distribution of provisional ballot envelopes, a
provisional ballot shall be placed in an envelope which seals and which:
- Has the language of W.S. 22-15-105(b)
typed on the back, or
- Has the statement "I do solemnly
swear (or affirm) that I am the person I represent myself to be and that I
am a qualified elector entitled to vote at this election, Signature of voter
___________, Signature of judge ________________," printed on the back.
Voter registration - In compliance with
the Help American Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) and in anticipation of January 2003
HAVA requirements:
- All persons who registered by mail must
show their ID to the election official the first time they vote.
- For all persons registering to vote,
the election official shall request the applicant's driver's license number
and last four digits of their social security number and record such numbers
on their voter registration card.
